CR BMX, Tuesday Night racing

All, Couple of important items, Tuesday Night racing starts this week so make sure you let your BMX racing friends that are not on the list know. Of course that all depends on where the rain goes this afternoon, so check the track phone or email for updates.

For those that made it out to race our first race, thank you!! It was exciting to see all the faces ready to race, you may have also noticed the loader and piles of new dirt sitting out there. Well our resident expert, Josh Trumblee, went to work on our front straight and boy does it look fast now.
If you see him or Scott Barber make sure to say thanks for the hard work as they spent their Memorial Day working at the track.

Lets hope we miss the rain this evening and we will see you at the track!

Ewing Park BMX, Thank You

BMX Racers,

I want to Welcome everyone to the 2009 BMX season, I would like to start wIth telling everyone the exciting news of switching to ABA this year. If you currenlty have A NBL lisense that is still valid, you can contiune to race, at renewl time you will be able to sign up for the ABA Lisence.

We had our first race on Sunday May 17th and had a great turn out, we still have alittle more work to do to the track, but I want to give a BIG thanks to Dale White, Kittie Knauer, and Alex Peterson for all the time and hard work spent on helping getting the track in shape to hold the race. Also all the Members from Cedar Rapids and Council Bluffs that came and helped make our first ABA race a sucess.

We will now hold practice on Tuesday nights from 6:30 until 8:00, there will be a $2 fee.

We will NOT be racing Thursdays this year, we WILL be racing on Sundays, with new times:
Registration will be from 11:00 to 12:30, you MUST be regristered before 12:30 to be able to race, there will be no exceptions.
We will start races at 1:00.

Trophies will be given to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place racers, we also have an option to use super saver stamps which you can redeem at bike shops, I will be able to tell you more detail on those stamps when I get more information.

We also changed our track name to Ewing Park BMX, we need a new logo, I would like everyone to come up with an idea and submit it to Me or Dale, we will narrow it down to a final 3 and let everyone vote for the winner. Please submit by May 31, 2009.

Lets make this year fun, if you have any suggestions, please let us know.

You may contact me by email or calling 515-285-6626.

Thank You,

Scott Conrath

Cedar Rapids BMX, OPening Night of Racing 5/9/2009

All, At this time we are planning to race on Saturday May 9th. The track looked great for practice last night and those sixteen eager riders who came out had fun getting back on the track. I will update the status if we get to much rain from the system expected tonight. If you can make it out to races tomorrow it would be great to see everyone.

You'll see a lot of new dirt sitting at the track, a new fence up around the starting gate, telephone poles out by the road that will be used for a new announcing tower. Changes are being made this year to the track in a lot of ways, we also have 115 gallons of Soiltac in my garage ready to be used on the track to seal it once track changes are done.

GET EXCITED it's BMX season!!! Let's Race!

Some new things this year:
- If you get NEW members to sign up for a full license you will get a free race.
- New members that sign up will get their first race free
- If a race falls on your birthday you get a free race
- I am working up some sort of way to help those that volunteer, so stay tuned and please help when you can.

The new rider program and birthdays will start with this season.

CR BMX Track Work

All, As most of you know there is no racing this Saturday, we have been to wet to get started on the track. We plan to be out a the track around 1PM until when ever getting the track ready to ride. If you can spare an hour or two to help it would be greatly appreciated. The plan is to drag, rake, then pack the track, we hope there will still be some moisture in the track so we won't need water.

If you help on Sunday we plan to do a little gate practice to make sure everything is working. Of course full equipment is needed and you need to help out with getting the track ready.

Hope to see you at the track, should be a nice weekend to get work done.

P.S. We would work Saturday but the track will still be too wet to do anything decent.
